SCOPE OF INNOVATION IN RADIO

Imagine you’re en-route to your work, rolling down your window glass would be immensely hectic because of the heavy traffic and ruthless honking of the horns. At that stressful situation, listening to your favorite songs and the melodic voice of your favorite RJ would definitely be stress relieving. Radios have always been our partner for long road trips, at this point of time it has become impossible for a person to plan a journey without involving radio. So today looking at the scattered popularity of the radio we bring you the euphonic voice on your radio channel.

Dr. Praveen Tiwari is speaking to RJ Naved in an exclusive interview about what all opportunities for startups are available in the radio and entertainment industry.

  1. What are the scopes of innovation in radio as an industry?

As an industry I think there are many innovation scopes, in fact firstly it is for the industry then for the shows because if the industry won’t change then it’s hard for us to change. For example, earlier there was only one radio on which everything gets broadcasted- news, music but now when innovation struck the industry, we have different channels for sports, news, and entertainment. Now there is a subdivision in entertainment also that is of latest songs and old songs. And now another innovation stepped in which is very important for instance our Radio Mirchi has two channels one is what we do and another one is Ishq FM which is new, in which we only talk about love and relationship that is totally intended for youngsters.

I think innovation is much needed especially in industry, from community radios to the entire radio in the city. For instance, it’s been ages that there are no changes in the ads on Radios, the innovation in ads are much needed.

  1. Today is the age of startups; do you think these internet radios have similar possibilities as much as Naved has?

I think they have even more opportunities, because I personally know few people who have four times more fan following than me, as they are popular, they are working much better, they are not connected to any radio or TV channel they design a show while sitting at home after designing it they post it on YouTube or any other social media platform.

  1. What are your tips for the people who hurry in every task? According to you what are the key points that need to be kept in mind to move ahead slowly?

If we gather an entire content of television since it started broadcasting, the amount of content you’ll collect that much content is uploaded on YouTube every day but how much a person can watch. There are millions of people who upload content every day on YouTube and they are doing this since past 15-20 years but are still flop because somewhere they lack the hard work or they were not working creatively. It’s not mandatory that you’ll be successful but yes if you are talented and hardworking then nobody can stop you.

  1. Startups in different fields need investment, but what you think is the basic requirement for new startups being thought in the radio or social media entertainment industry?

What investment I have to do on myself is to be a good speaker, and according to me, a person can only be a good speaker when he is a good listener. I want to listen to all sorts of radio; I cannot speak well until I listen well. I have listened to community radio so much in a hope that I will learn something. So this is my investment in myself that I must listen to people and meet them.

And I especially wanted to tell those who wanted to start from home that you are not only one who has thought about it there are millions out there who are doing it so think of something unique. And this can only be possible when you start thinking that what other millions of them are thinking, then start implementing from wherever you want but before that what you really have to do is that you must give time to others.

  1. What is that something which keeps you up at the time of saturation in the market?

You need to keep your ego aside and always be open for learning. Today I am 44 years old but I am always up for learning the lingo that young people are using in the market for today’s generation. The person who will get the idea that I have to move with time and as per the demand then only I will be alive in the market. Constant learning from young generation will always keep you up.
