Serving every common man a ridership in itself and marking an emblem in the India’a two-wheeler market, the second largest two wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has unveiled a new model of its popular bike brand Pulsar. Pulsar, the bike was the segment that made a revolutionary transition of Bajaj in motor cycle market compare to its earlier contemporary of scooters. According to the company, the new Pulsar has more power and efficiency making it a best machine for the fuel goers. The bike is slated to hit nearby showrooms in April.
"The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS is best middle-class sports bike. It will be commercially launched beginning next fiscal through 600 dealers across the country. The price is expected to be below Rs 1 lakh," Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj told reporters here.
Speaking on the efficiency factor of Bajaj’s new Pulsar, the company’s Auto Chief Technology Officer Abraham Joseph said, “The model will have cutting-edge engine which sets new benchmarks in performance, emission and incidentally, also fuel efficiency.”
Introduced in 2003, the new motorbike consists of DTS-i (Digital Twin Spark-ignition) technology with a SOHC 4-valve triple spark engine controlled by an advanced electronic control unit for better performance. It has 23.2 bhp power and 18.3 Nm torque, which is more compare with the bigger bosses like Honda CBR250 and Yamaha R15.
The bike has liquid cooling and a six speed gear box. The Pulsar will be manufactured at the company's plant at Chakan near Pune, which has a capacity of producing 1,00,000 units per month, Joseph said.
K Srinivas, President-Motorcycles, Bajaj Auto, said "Pulsar has now celebrated a 'decade of dominance' with 10 years of leadership in the Indian performance motorcycle market. These sporty iconic motorcycles have been a testimony to the company's engineering prowess. The Pulsar 200NS showcases next leap in technology and design and will set the standard for others to follow."
"We believe 2012-13 will be an exciting period where Bajaj Auto will excite customers both here and abroad," he added.
Pulsar, being a master machine from Bajaj’s family has started its journey from its 150cc segment in the biking market of India. Bajaj today makes as many as four variants with engine options as diverse as a 135cc entry level to a top of the line 220cc. Earlier the company has showcased and launched its first sports bike, KTM ‘Duke 200’ in partnership with KTM, strengthening its position in the sports bike segment in India. About future plans, Bajaj said the company plans to launch more models in 2012 and not yet, it will also schedule to launch the next avatar of Pulsar in the 350cc segment in later 2013 to punch more power beneath the wheels. The company also hopes to increase market share to 32 per cent from the present 26 per cent in Indian motorcycle market over the next few years.
